New teachers make a difference at Cookeville High

This year Cookeville High school wecomed eleven new teachers, Beau Fullerton, Danielle Gernt, Jeff Gold, Todd Hess, Lorna Jones, Willie Maddux, Michael Meihls, Terry Moore, Alicia Page, Noah Repasky, Billy Stepp and Marcia Wiley.

Ms. Page teaches Foundations 1 and Algebra 1. She went to high school in Barren County, KY. Her favorite color is green and she prefers pancakes to waffles. She said, “Math is important. You need to think critically and logically.”

Mr. Gold teaches Nurturing, formerly Peer Buddy, in the Special Education wing. He loves grilled chicken and the sound of the saxaphone. “I love working with young adults; I love teaching,” said Mr. Gold.

Ms. Gernt enjoys eating tater tots and waffles and teaching at Cookeville High School. “I actually enjoy working with individuals at high school age.” Ms. Gernt said. she teaches Fundamentals, Forestry and Agricultural mechanics.

Mr. Repasky teaches Economics and World History classes. “I like helping others,” said Mr. Repasky. He loves the sound of wind in the leaves, a good steak and waffles. His favorite class in high school was German.

Mr. Fullerton’s favorite class in high school was keyboarding, the class he is now teaching. “I have always wanted to work with kids, and football has been a big part of my life. I love coaching,” said Mr. Fullerton. His favorite sound is whistles, which makes sense because he loves football.

Ms. Moore graduated from Cookeville High School and is now teaching Special Education Life Skills. She said, “I just love the students, they are wonderful. I enjoy working with the them.” She loves the color purple and the sound of wind chimes.

Mr. Meihls teaches Algebra 2 and Foundations 2. He actually started teaching at Cookeville High School last spring, but this is his first full year teaching at the high school. “I love math, I love the High School aged kids and I put the two of them together,” says Mr. Mielhs. He also loves Italian food and anything to do with guitars.

Ms. Jones loves lima beans and the sound of laughter. She teaches Algebra 1. She attended Blacksburge High Scool in Virginia. “I enjoy watching people learn, and getting to work with students,” said Ms. Jones.

Mr. Maddux teaches Computer Productivity and World Geography. He loves fried pork chops and the sound of peace and quiet. Mr. Maddux said, “I needed to make a difference in the future, and I owed it to some people who helped me. Being able to make a direct difference in peoples lives.”

Mr. Stepp teaches the band. He enjoys waffles and the sound of his little girl. Why he became a teacher Mr. Stepp says, “I couldn’t become a professional golfer.”

Ms. Wiley loves pancakes, pizza, and the sound of babies laughing. She said, “I enjoy my subject and the students. I wanted to pass on my love of science.” She teaches Chemistry IB/AP and Biology.

Mr. Hess works in the Special Education with English 11, Foundations 1. He says, “I like working with students and helping them acheive their goals. Interaction with students, and I like to teach and coach.” He helps coach the boys’ basketball team, which explains why his favorite sound is a three piont shot swishing the net. He loves Mexican food and pancakes.
