Dave Matthews Band or bust!
Brooke Randolph, Charger Staff
Screaming fans, packed amphitheater, overpriced souvenirs, and
Dave Matthews Band. Can life get any better? On August 4 DMB hit
the Starwood stage for a blowout performance of all their greatest
hits. Opening with “One Sweet World” and an explosive
performance of “Don’t Drink the Water,” the band
played on for three hours after their opening band Guster.
The concert was almost drowned out by some menacing thunderstorms
after the opening act, but the crowd stayed true to the rain or
shine mentality and thoroughly enjoyed the music and, surprisingly,
the rain. Crowd pleasers like “Crash,” “ When
the World Ends,” “Tripping Billies,” “Satellite,”
“Ants Marching,” “Too Much,” and “Drive
In Drive Out” were played with grace and style with fantastic
solos by LeRoi Moore and Boyd Tinsley.
Dave also mixed it up with a few unknown songs like “Sugar
Will,” “Joy Ride,” “Crazy Easy,” and
“The Stone” for a more eclectic mix of music. After
the crowd was satisfied and the encore was complete, all we were
left with were sweaty concert tees, and ringing ears. More importantly
we also had the memories of a fantastic performance and the realization
that all our theories were correct; Dave Matthews Band is the greatest
band in the world!
