The CHS volleyball team is ready to start off on a new season.

With a new coach, Sharon Bilbrey, and a new assistant coach, Andrea Stewart the girls are anxious to get the season underway.

The girls all had wonderful things to ssay abotu their coaches. Sophomore Kayla Powell says, “Our coaches are amazing! ”

Our volleyball team has been practicing extremely hard to win their games. The team practices every day for three hours. Practice is a lot of work, but the girls are determined to win.

The roster this year is quite large and consists of many new players.

On varsity this year are seniors Erica McDonald, Jennifer Skimmyhorn, and Amy Byrne; juniors Orianna Knowlton, Rachel Burks, Kristie Powell, Barbie Sanders, Dani Green, and Macey Denney; sophomores Kayla Powell, Joanna Slagle, and Jessica Ashburn.

On the freshmen team is Hillary Valdez, Lauren Garret, Laura Dale, Lauren Kneiling, along with Megan Childers, Katie Anderson, Ashley Bryant, Brittany Denimore, Rachel Fox, Nikki Fox, Stephanie Dennison, Amanda Graham, Kayla Kmet, and Tosha Morris.

There have been many new players added to this year’s roster.

On Aug. 22, the girls played at Livingston and on Aug. 24, a tournament was held called the Blackman Jamboree. Junior Kristie Powell reports, “ We improved from our last tournament, but we believe we still have a long way to go.”

On August 27, the girls experienced their first home game of this season . On Aug. 30, there was a game held at Cumberland County.

Freshman Megan Childers says, “Volleyball is very important to me, as well as to the other girls on the team.”

All the girls on the team want everyone to come out and support them.

Please do not forget to go out and support our team as much as you can. It will be greatly appreciated.

Do not forget that every one counts. Please cheer the team on as they start off on a new season!
