Volleyball team having a good year

The Lady Cavs Volleyball Team is on their way to a good year. On
Aug. 28, the girls left Farragut with three wins against SBEC, Cosby
County, and Gibbs County, and two losses against Anderson County
and Baylor, during the Early Bird tournament. Sophomore Taylor Denney
had thirteen service aces, the tournament’s highest ace average.
Aug. 31 was the first offical home game played against Lebanon.
The team won two games and lost three. Joanna Slagle, the team’s
only senior, had eight kills and sophomore, Staci Ray led the team
with nine digs.
The girls played their arch rivals, White County, on September
2. The team had an amazing and close first two games against the
lady warriors, with scores of 25-22 and 26-24, but they lost the
next three 20-25, 22-25, and 11-15.
On Sept. 3rd and 4th, the varsity girls participated in the Top
Gun tournament in Morristown. The tournament left the girls with
four wins and four losses. The girls competitors included Morristown
East, Henry Clay, David Crockett, Cumberland County, Cocke County
, Gallatin, and Landmark Christian. On Friday night the girls found
themselves with two losses against Morristown and Henry Clay . Saturday
the girls played six more games, in which they played Landmark Christian
twice. The overall outcome of the weekend was a record of four wins
and four losses.
On Sept, 7, the girls traveled to Blackman High School, to take
on the Lady Blaze. The girls won the game in the first three matches
with an outcome of 27-25, 25-18, 25-18.
The Cavs played Warren County at home on Sept. 9, where they left
with a 3-0 win over the Pioneers. Also played at home, was the Oakland
match, where sophomore, Nikki James, had seventeen kills for the
night.
The Riverdale match was a disappointment for the Lady Cavs,who
lost to the Warriors by a 3-0 defeat.
On Sept. 17-18, the Lady Cavs traveled to Munt Juliet for the Wilson
Central Tournament. On Friday, the girls strung out the match, by
losing the first match, winning the last, and finally losing the
last game 6-15 to Independence High. The next game was against Friendship
Christian, where in order to qualify for the gold division, the
girls had to win in two games, which they succeded in doing, winning
27-25 and 25-12. Saturday the girls played Gallatin, and again won
the match with a 2-0 win, 25-20 and 25-13. Finally the girls played
Oakland, where they came out strong in the first match, 25-21, but
lost the next two 23-25 and 6-15.
On Sept. 21, the girls went to Lebannon
During homecoming week, the Cavs played against arch rivals White
County. The girls won their second fourth and fifth game, resulting
in the girls victory over the Warriors with a 3-2 match, winning
the last game, 15-12.
