Great beginnings

The CHS football team has had a great start this season. Winning 3 out of 4 games shows their determination to succeed. “We are off to a great start this season (3- 1). Hopefully we keep getting better from week to week and be able to make a run in the playoffs,” said Coach Noah Repasky.

Their first game was against the White County Warriors on August 27. Cookeville was strong in both halves. Quarterback and Senior John Ledford and Wide Receiver and Junior Tyler Wolf were outstanding in this game. The final score was 31 to 13 with CHS dominating the scoreboard.

The Coffee County Red Raiders were the next opponents. This game was held on September 3. During the first half, Cookeville played it’s best. The outstanding player of this game was Running Back and Senior Gus Paxton. Coffee County ended up losing by one point with a score of 28, and Cookeville with 29.

On September 10 CHS felt the agony of defeat. The Lebanon Blue Devils beat Cookeville on CHS’s home field. Cookeville had a good first half by leading with seven points. Lebanon came back during the third quarter gaining 10 points, thus making the final score 17 to 14, Lebanon winning.

On September 16, the Cavs won their fourth game against the Warren County Pioneers. Despite the rain, the team toughed it out and came through winning. Chance Fox, Offensive Lineman and Senior, stated of the game, “We played hard and kept our penalties down even though field conditions were not the best due to tropical storn Ivan. We came out with a big region win.” The Cavs won with a score of 21 to 0, on the Pioneer’s home field.

Despite the loss, Cookeville has kept their game at it’s best. They have not let their enthusiasm get down. Wear your class colors and come out to the games and cheer the boys on!
