Say goodbye to baccalaureate seniors!

Brooke Randolph, Charger Staff

It seems that the Class of 2005 has been cheated again, this time our baccalaureate service has been cancelled through no fault of our own. Baccalaureate is a service given before graduation that honors seniors with a special speaker that usually gives a speech of motivation and inspiration. There has been a decline each year recently in attendance and enthusiasm. Three years ago Putnam County combined the services for all high schools. It was still was not enough to keep the former seniors interested or motivated. After long deliberation our three principals decided to put an end to the service and its festivities. According to Mr. Shanks the fairly expensive service was not worth giving since seniors did not seem to want to attend.

For all of you eager seniors who were also disappointed to hear that our graduation will take place on Saturday at ten o’clock in the morning blame past attendance to baccalaureate service. There is a direct correlation with our bright and early graduation. We will be waking up at the crack of dawn to finally say goodbye to this fine establishment because baccalaureate was cancelled. The new policy , since the cancellation, is a rotation for graduation ceremony time between CHS, Upperman, and Baxter for Friday night, Saturday morning, and Saturday night. So seniors take part in the red lockers, Project Graduation, and prom so that future classes can too!
