The leaves are changing colors. The weather is getting cool. It is fall. This also means that it is time for Bruce Anderson’s fall production . This year, he chose The Curious Savage. The Curious Savage is a comedy written by John Patrick in 1951 about Mrs. Savage, played by Molly Malone, who is left ten million dollars by her deceased husband and wants to make the best of it, in spite of the efforts of her grown-up stepchildren to get the money.

“This production was enjoyable and rewarding. It was amazing to watch a cast come together and become completely different characters. This play was different than past productions because of the small cast. It was great to get to know these people better,” said Morgan Thomas who played Miss Wille. Molly Malone said, “I was very nervous and scared because of all the dialogue that I had to learn.”

According to Anderson, “Choosing this play was very easy because the dramatic characterization [and] content. Though it’s a comedy, it makes an important point about people. Half-way through reading half a dozen scripts, this one caught my eye.” Anderson enjoyed working with a small cast, especially with such an intelligent group of students. This production was also a challenge for his third block technical theater class because the set was so detailed.

Other cast members included Rachel Schmid as Fairy Mae, Sean Mahoney as Hannibal, Whitney Johnson as Florence, James Scott as Jeff, Jessica Mattingly as Mrs. Paddy, Megan Trentle as Lily Belle, Bryan Isbell as Titus, Josh Dore as Samuel, and Jimmy Whiteside as Dr. Emmitt. Stage mangers included, Paige Bowman, Erin McMillan and Kevin Faragher. The played showed in the Cookeville High School auditorium Oct. 5-7.
