Makin’ It-- A Cookeville High School Odyssey

Thomasina Bennett, Charger Staff

Everybody wants to be in the “in crowd," right? Mr. Anderson’s latest play, Making It, shows an inside view of a group of high school students looking for change. However, just like life’s ironic dips and dives, this play has its twists and turns, its ups and downs.

The play is set in Dwight D. Eisenhower High School, a high school not too different from this one.

A bunch of troublesome teens are the focus of attention in this unorthodox play. The play focuses on the lives of several teens at Dwight D. Eisenhower High.

The one thing that unites these misfits is that they are all going through personal crises. Take Brooke Benidict (played by Cassandra Kimberly).

Brooke is not part of what would be considered the popular crowd. However, her mother wants her to live the teen dream and be “Miss Popularity.” To please her mother, Brooke completely changes her looks, personality, and everything else, to simply fit in.

In the end, she finds out that sometimes it’s better to be yourself than to try and please others.

Another troubled teen is Brooke’s best friend Jenn (played by Ashley Burks).

Jenn realizes the importance of being yourself, but she is not popular, and high school is not working out well for her. She is on a quest to try and find herself.

Another main character is Hunter (played by Caleb Hall). He is battling the fact that he doesn’t have any parental role models, and to help himself deal with that, he pops pills.

Some other main characters are Scott Burrows, played by Dane Cooper, Pat played by Daisha Maxum, and Barb played by Suman Natarajan

Cast member Cassandra Kimberly says, “Every character will appeal to someone in the audience. People might be shocked at first but the play should go over very well.”

The show was performed on Oct. 1, 2, and 3. It was a spectacular show that gave everyone a different view of high school life.
