Sports season rolls around again, and with it come the pressing responsibilities of our school athletic director Mr. Ledbetter. His duty is to supervise athletic events at CHS, and ensure all facilities are ready for those events. A sports fan since the day he learned to walk, he played college baseball, raquetball for baseball conditioning... he has now twenty consecutive State wins and is second in the nation, all a result of his conditioning.
He found the most enjoyable aspect of his occupation to be watching the athletes perform and enjoy themselves. His favorite memory in sports history is when, in 1968, a man from Tanzania ran a marathon; he got injured, and not about to give up, he went on to finish the race in last place after four hours. When asked why he didn't just stop said, "My country did not send me to win a race, they sent me to finish it." When asked how it feels to be the "Head Honcho" of CHS sports Mr. Ledbetter said, "I do not look at it that way, I just do whatever it takes to get things rolling." Mr. Ledbetter would just like to say he feels it is wrong to have parents pay for so much school sports gear and bus costs and would like to thank the parents for their great contributions. He is getting our Athletic Program off to a good start and he will continue doing so. The Charger staff thanks Mr. Ledbetter for all the hard work he puts into our sports program.
