Wrestling practice begins

Wrestling has started again. Intense practices with multiple push-ups, sit-ups, and lots of running ---Yes, wrestling is back at CHS! The team is learning numerous exercises that will teach and improve their wrestling techniques. The team practiced over the fall break getting their wieght down and lifting wieghts.

The first day of wrestling season was Oct. 26, and about fourty-five people showed up, not including those who will join after fall sports are finished.

Coach Greg Dennison said, “Wrestling is a great sport and we have awesome returning team players along with quite a few new guys. I believe this season is going to be great.”

Assistant coach Bill Ferrell said, “Wrestling is really intense. There is big compitition in state. We plan to work real hard again this year, as in the past six years since the program started.”

This 2004-2005 wrestling season’s seniors are Charles Taylor, Bobby O’Brian, Aaron McDermott, Shane Langford and Tyler Swindel, all of wich are returning state qualifiers. Other returning state qualifiers are juniors Tyler Reeder and Chris Randolph, and sophomores are Aaron Berman, Matt Alred, Quinton Talley and Quinton Matthews.

Senior Charles Taylor said, “I think we’ll be a better team this year because we have a lot more passion.”

Senior Aaron McDermott said, “I believe we will be a better team this year because we do not have as many distractions.”
Junior Tyler Reeder said, “I think we’ll have a pretty good year, with returning veterans. This year I think we can beat Bradly Central, our biggest compition.”

Freshmen Hope Proctor, who has been wrestling since she was ten, said, “For me wrestling is an awesome experience I’ll never forget.”
