Premier supports The Charger

Laura Denton, Copy Editor

Premier Diagnostic Imaging has sponsored the Cookeville High School newspaper, The Charger, for several years.  Every year, their donations provide money for computer equipment and new software.

Why does Premier do this?  According to Melanie Chadwell, a Premier Representative, “We strongly support education in all the schools and we like the quality work produced by The Charger staff.”

There is, however, more to the story than just that.  Several years ago, a Charger staff member student wandered in to Premier Diagnostic Imaging trying to sell newspaper ads.  Bob Gunter, the director of Premier, remembered his newspaper career in high school, and felt the desire to help.  Gunter urged the Premier Board of Directors to adopt The Charger. Charger staff, as well as all of its’ readers, have been enjoying the result ever since.

Ms. Sharon Anderson, advisor of the Charger, admits, “Through the years, we would not have had the up-to-date digital technology if it weren’t for Premier.”  To express appreciation, The Charger places the Premier logo in the masthead in each issue.  Thanks to Premier, Charger staff members have the means to present the Cookeville High student body with a professional, high-quality newspaper.  “We know the importance of education,” says Melanie Chadwell, “and we will continue to support young writers.”
