Getting the real story about rappers helps open minds to new

Charger Staff

Many people have a negative opinion about rap music. They believe that most rappers are ignorant, with bad teeth, pants down to their knees, and talking mostly of women they have been with.

This couldn’t be more untrue about most rappers.Sean Combs, better known to most as P. Diddy, happens to have one of the best sets of pearly whites I have ever seen.

Combs also has, in my opinion, a great taste in clothing. While in public, he is rarely without attire that costs close to a thousand dollars. He also designs clothing, so when he is not wearing apparel by Versace or Armani, he is dressed in clothing tailored by his own company. I guess there is more to him than baggy jeans.

White rappers are also a hot topic. Marshall Mathers, also known as Eminem, is often criticized for his harsh words in his songs. He did have a poor childhood, and this is no way justifies the murder of his ex-wife, which he did rap about, but he stopped there.Do people who believe he is a horrible person believe Anthony Hopkins is a cannibal? No, he is merely offering entertainment. Yes, much of Eminem’s rap is true, but I can only believe what is based on fact.

Many rappers speak of more trivial matters. Ginuwine sings a song announcing the change he has gone through because of one woman.

P. Diddy raps of needing a girl to be his wife because he is tired of women trying to romance him for his money. He also says he needs someone who can raise a family.

Tupac has tributes to his hard-working single mother, as does Nelly.

Nas proclaims in his latest single “One Mic,” that he does not care for the money he makes, and that he only wanted his voice to rise against racial remarks.

I think people need to be more open-minded when it comes to things such as rap music.

There are bad songs in every genre of music, not just rap. Getting the whole picture will make everyone more willing to try appreciating new kinds of music.
