CHS remembers veterans during week-long event

Thomasina Bennett, Charger Staff

Once again this November the faculty, staff, and student body of Cookeville High School will come together to honor America’s veterans of foreign wars.

Each year Cookeville High School hosts a week-long tribute to these heroes.

The festivities include dress-up days such as camouflage day, yellow ribbon day, dress your best for those who gave their best, and red, white, and blue day.

One of the nights the high school will host a ceremony for the veterans in the community. Traditionally, the choir sings patriotic songs with the band’s musical accompaniment, and there is food for the guests provided by Tennessee Tomorrow.

Many other clubs are participating in this spectacular event, including the history club, who will be handing out programs along with other things. Cookeville High School’s history department also plays a big role in the festivities.

This is a unique opportunity for the people of this community as well as Cookeville High School students to honor America’s veterans. This week-long tribute is an incredible event for students and veterans alike. This is a great tradition here at CHS, and all students are urged to attend to help honor the amazing men and women who have served their country.
