David Klein plans to journey to Hawaii in December to earn money
for cancer research

This year one man, formally from Cookeville, is giving his all
to help others.
Travelling to a place filled with trees, beaches, and hot weather,
he will participate in a marathon to raise money for adults and
children with cancer.
30-year-old David Klein, a former student and staff writer of CHS,
is running in the Honolulu Marathon in December to benefit the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society.
Although he played soccer for CHS during high school, Klein admitts
to never having run long distance races before deciding to participate
in the Honolulu Marathon.
Klein has promised to raise $3600 to help research fight cancer.
He is running to help the 106,700 people in the United States who
will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma this year.
Every nine minutes, a child or adult dies from these diseases.
Leukemia is one of the leading diseases is a killer among children.
Lymphoma is a major disease that affects men and women under the
age of 35.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has a program called Team-in-Training
that provides coaching and encouragement to runners participating
in this marathon.
Team-in-Training is the worlds largest endurance sports training
program.
In exchange for the training and support, runners of the marathon
must work hard to raise money toward a cure for leukemia and lymphoma.
Team-in-Training Chairman Marty Liquori and the more than 30,000
runners, walkers, cyclists, and tri-atletes who participate in the
worlds major marathons this year on behalf of the society
ask for donations to the Team-in-Training program.
This program has raised millions of dollars to be put toward finding
cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease, and myeloma.
If you would like to be a donator or a member of the Team-in-Training
program, feel free to contact David Klein or anyone at the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society and its Team-in-Training program.
