Talking veggies teach valuable Bible lessons

Allison Coffey, Charger Staff

If you like to talk to tomatoes, and if a squash can make you smile, then have we got a movie for you!

Cheesy, huh? Everyone loves watching the lovable talking, hopping, and singing vegetables during their TV show, which just happens to be long enough to keep a little kid’s attention.

But what happens when that thirty minute TV show is stretched out to an hour and twenty-five minute movie of vegetables teaching little kids about the stories in the Bible?

What can make the little kids sit in their seats without moving for over an hour? Khalil, the half caterpillar and half worm, of course.

The movie starts with the Veggies going on a road trip to see a concert. After a tire gets blown out by a porcupine, they stop at a restaurant to call a tow truck (among other things).

Junior comes across the Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything and is told the story about Jonah and the Whale.

At the end of the story, Bob and the rest of the crew learn about mercy and compassion, and all leave happy to go to the concert.
It was a really cute movie, although it wasn’t the best movie ever.

I’m still trying to figure out why they didn’t sing the theme song at the beginning.

How can you have anything related to Veggie-Tales and not have the theme song?

It’s a sad, sad world we live in when a girl is denied a Veggie-Tale song.
