Swim season begins with a splash!

By: Josh Wilborn, Charger Staff

From the dawn swim practices, to excrutiating warm-ups; from small weight reps, to drug testing, Cavalier swim season is finally here.

This year, Middle Tennessee is divided into 4 divisions rather than 3, as it was in the past. CHS will be competing in Division 3, the second-hardest of the divisions. Teams are grouped based on the number of members and previous records.

Coach Tennant says, "We have a good team this year with much potential, and we will be competing for the championship this year with a good chance of winning."

Swimmer Bailey Garret says, "I am very excited about the swim team this year, everyone seems ready to work hard and put in their utmost effort."

The Cavs kicked off their season on Nov. 8 in an all-relay meet at Oakland and won.

17 meets are scheduled for the Cavs this year. The first home meet, against Riverdale, will be the biggest of the season.

Senior swimmers this year are Trevor Mickey and Sam Matson; girls are Bailey Garret, Jenna Stubbs, Ally Richardson, Jessica Dainty, Stephanie Bates, Ashley Walker, Devin Baranowski, Amanda Zoodsma and manager, Abby Sliger.

Cookeville High School has a very strong swim team, and we will hopefully see them win another division Championship this year.

Let's support our Cavs swim team this year, giving a heart felt swim cheer, "We got spirit, yes we do. We got spirit how 'bout you?"
