Machines that sell milk--a welcome addition to Cookeville High

Leigh Ivey, Editor-in-Chief

Before the whole “Got Milk?” craze began, milk commercials emphasized how “milk does a body good.”

Most kids drank milk at supper with their families and sometimes at lunch in school.

But then things changed, at least in the beverage world.

When we graduated from elementary school and moved to Prescott, all the new fifth and sixth graders were amazed that we went to a school with Coke machines outside classrooms.

The idea that we were in a school where we could drink soft drinks any time we wanted was for some reason extremely exciting to us. When we moved to Avery Trace and two years later became students at the high school, the thrill of Coke machines was gone. I don’t know what it was, but having drink machines in the halls was no longer a big deal.

Drink machines have once more become exciting, at least to me. That’s because this year, for the first time ever, drink machines now sell milk--chocolate,strawberry, vanilla...any kind of milk you can possibly imagine.

Why it took so long to create milk vending machines is beyond me, but I’m glad CHS finally decided to offer these choices along with all the soft drinks.

Now students have the choice of milk rather than Cokes. Next time you feel like quenching your thirst, go for the milk.

“It does a body good.”
