Daredevil: Spiderman recycled...

When movie studios became infatuated with comic book superheroes,
many cheered the arrival of live versions of classic comic superheroes
such as Superman, The Fly, and more recently, Spiderman.
Other comic book afficianados rue the day the big studios coopted
their favorite characters. Just as the book is usually better than
the movie, often the comic book is better than the movie.
Marvel has done it again, teaming up with Fox to bring the public
its newest blockbuster hit Daredevil. Current J-Lo fiance, Ben Affleck
and televisions Alias hottie, Jennifer Garner, team up to
bring this lesser known classic to the big screen.
Matt Murdock (Affleck) was the son of Battling Jack
Murdock, a boxer who made his living in New Yorks Hells
Kitchen. Raising Matt alone, due to the death of his mother, Jack
took it upon himself to provide a better life for himself in order
to provide a better life for his son.
He becomes an enforcer for the Fixer, a local mobster, in order
to give Matt more than his boxing winnings.
Jack Murdock taught his son not to fight and tried to guide him
into studies. Matt became a bookworm, and was repeatedly mocked
by the name Daredevil.
While walking down the street Matt noticed a blind man was about
to get hit by a truck carrying radioactive waste. He ran in front
of the truck and pushed the man out of the way . Some of the waste
was spilled into his eyes and he instantly became blind.
Although he was blind, Matts other senses were heightened
and he was able to see using a radar sense that showed outlines
and shapes. His hearing became so acute that he could hear a heartbeat
and he could smell the faintest odor.
After the accident , a mysterious blind man offered to help the
boy develop his new found powers and train him in the martial arts.
During this time, Jack Murdock was enjoying some success in the
boxing ring. However, he soon found out that all his matches were
fixed, and he was to throw his next fight.
Jack didnt want to lose his match with son in the audience,
so he went against his orders and won the match.Later that night
he was murdered by Fixers men.
Matt using his new found powers and sought revenge against his
fathers killers. The remainder of the film catalogues his efforts
to claim justice and avenge his fathers death, leaping and
dodging the bad guys in a costume described by one national reviewer
as looking likeCatwoman made over by Revlon. One question,
if he is blind, why are there eyeholes in the costume?
Does he get it? You will have to watch the movie to find out. I
give it a three out of five stars because it seemed like Spider-man
all over again.
