On Feb. 22-23, 25 CHS swim team members went to the state competition in Nashville.
The 200 free relay team, made up of Trevor Mickey, Jason Baert, Jon Watson, and Sam Matson, placed 19th. Matson, Baert, and Watson went on to swim their best in the 50 free, with Jon swimming in 24.06 seconds, Jason in 24.16, and Sam in 24.09 seconds. Sam remarked, "While we didn't make the top 16, we still showed undaunted courage and swam our best time ever."
The 400 relay, made up of Mickey, Brandon Pruett, Watson, and Matson, placed 18th and made the best finish for a CHS relay team.
The 200 medley, comprised of Sue Donovan, Ally Richardson, Jessica Dainty, and Jenna Stubbs placed first in their heat. Richardson swam in the 100 breast stroke in 1:19.13 seconds, and Stubbs swam the 100 back stroke in 1:09.27.
The 400 free relay (Romy Axelgard, Erin McCullough, Ashley Walker, and Bailey Garrett) took 4 seconds off their fastest time.
Also making state were Chris Carver, Abby McCullough, Vee Donovan, Stephanie Bates, Devin Baranowski, and Jason Jacoby, as well as two relay teams. For the 200 free relay, Richardson, Walker, McCullough, and Stubbs filled out the positions, the 200 medley was made up of Jonathon Jacoby, Baert, Matt Stone, and Charles Day.
