All I want is a cookie
Holley Roberts and Dana Johnson, Charger Staff
Were all very serious these days, right? So much going on...
responsiblities, applications, deadlines, jobs, relationships and
all the other pre-adulthood struggles we encounter. Sometimes you
feel so big and bad, so high and mighty, so intelligent that you
could surely run the Catholic Church better than the Pope himself
or cure an economic disaster entirely on your own, right?
Youre too old for trick-or-treating and birthday parties.
Besides, who has the time? Life is taking you where it wants to
go, and youre along for the ride.
But maybe, behind your grown-up facade, you envy the
mild, casual lifestyle of a carefree six-year old, wherein the biggest
catastrophe rarely involves more than a hot-wheel or a barbie doll?
Forget the fact that, in reality, you need to think about the future,
your college and career plans, war, international mishaps and other
lovely little problems.
All you really want is the last chocolate chip cookie, which your
little brother is maliciously clutching in his chubby little hand.
But, alas! Were growing up and theres nothing we can
do to stop the inevitable.
However, we all have a choice as to how well go about our
adult lives. Youll either learn to be a stuffy office-worker
who values his high-income home more than the loved ones who live
in it.
Youll do what youve always dreamed of doing, use your
creative talents and passions with no regard for money or frivolous
material possessions.
You will soak in the joys of life, show compassion and regard for
others, and view life through the simple eyes of a child, having
added your own touch of character and wisdom.
