I want the puppy in the window!

Cassandra Kimberly and Holley Roberts, Charger Staff

Lions, and tigers, and kittens, oh my! Even though October is the nationally recognized month for pet adoption, February is also a wonderful time to take an orphaned dog or cat to a sweetheart for that “special day” on the 14. Located on 2105 West Jackson Street across from the Cane Creek Sportsplex, the Cookeville-Putnam County Animal Shelter cares for and finds homes for strays across Putnam and the surrounding counties.

Last year over 600 cats and dogs were adopted in Putnam county alone. Unfortunately thousands were still euthanized. To aid in the prevention of overpopulation, spaying and neutering pets is a crucial step in saving the lives of animals.

What better time than February to adopt a pet and fight against animal cruelty? Just stop by the local animal shelter or search on the web at www.cookeville-putnamshelter.com for an animal that fits almost anyone’s personality and lifestyle.
