Seniors honored as Students of the Month

Elena Vasquez, Charger Staff

Each year, there are fourteen seniors honored by the school and community for their outstanding achievements. These students then recieve the Rotary Club Student of the Month Award.

The Rotary Club is an organization of men and women who are active in making a difference in the community by their service as well as their funds.

A student is chosen for this honor for being a dependable person, having leadership qualities, being active in school and extracurricular activities, as well as having outstanding grades. The student needs to be a conscientious person and set a good example for everyone. These qualities are just a few expected out of the Student of the Month.

In order to be given this honor a student must first be nominated by teachers and faculty. Then, a selected group of counselors, administrators, and teachers chose the seniors, 7 girls and 7 boys.

The students attend the meeting at the Holiday Inn on the last Wednesday of their assigned month and are recognized for their outstanding achievements.

Here are the outstanding seniors chosen as this year’s students and their assigned months. For the month of Oct., the students were Yamini and Krishna Rao, and the faculty representatives were Mr. Shanks and Mrs. Leimer.
