Is block scheduling going to be cut?

Elena Vasquez, Charger Staff

Many students here at CHS may be concerned whether the curriculum for the new year will include block scheduling.
For many of the concerned students The Charger has your answer: no! Dr. Martin plans are to keep the class schedule the same.

Earlier this year, there was a rumor here at CHS. The rumor was that Cookeville High School might end up with six periods this term, or even next year. In a recent interview with Dr. Martin, he wanted to set the record straight, so there would be no doubts.

He said, “ I plan to keep the four blocks for quite some time.” In fact, Dr. Martin plans to keep it the same for the next three years, at least. He actually plans to keep it aroud for a long time.

Changing the class schedule to six or eight periods would cost a great deal of money, which, as you know, the school system does not have.

Dr. Martin says, “it will cost the school board about an estimate of 3 million dollars, also included is the addition new staff, and teachers that the school board will have to hire. Plus having more blocks will cause more stress, anxiety.”

Dr. Martin says that, “the top 10 schools have four blocks, instead of having many blocks.”
