A not-so-bad season for Cookeville High’s swim team, winners in each division announced

The swim team here at CHS has 32 people who are on the team. Evenly divided, they have 16 girls and 16 boys. The swim team has been doing an outstanding job. They have competeted against Lavergne, Tullahoma, Brentwood Academy, and Riverdale. They also competed against Smyrna to whom they lost.; they also lost to Riverdale. When they competed on Jan. 11, against Lavergne; Charles Day qualified for state.

In 1st place relay teams for the boys were Brandon Pruett with 200 medley for doing the butterfly. Jason Baert did the back stroke, Jon Watson the free style.

As for the free style for 200, winners were Trevor Mickey, Brandon Pruett, Jon Watson, and Sam Matson.

For the 400 free style, winners were Sam Matson, Jonathan Jacoby, and Jon Watson.

The winning girls for 200 medley were Jenna Stubbs, Ally Richardson, Jessica Dainty, and Ashley Walker.

The 400 free style winners were Erin Mc Cullough, Ally Richardson, Bailey Garrett, and Ashley Walker.

So, congrats to the girls, and boys for their great achievement! The CHS team beat Lavergne by over 80 pts. In 1st , 2nd,and 3rd 50 free style for depths were (1) Erin Mc Cullough (2) Sue Donovan (3) Stepanie Bates.

In the 200 medley for the boys were Trevor Mickey, Jason Baert, Brandon Pruett, and Jon Watson. In the 50 depth free style was in first place Brandon Pruett (2) Charles Day. As for the 100 depth free style was (1) Jon Watson (2) Charles Day.
For the 100 breast stroke (1) Trevor Mickey, 400 free style - Jason Baert, Charles Day, - Sam Matson, Jon Watson.

When they last swam against Smyrna: CHS. lost.

The swim team lost by 7 pt total. “We won 14 out of 22 races,” said Mr. Tennant.

In 1st place - 200 medley Jenna Stubbs, Ally Richardson, Jessica Dainty, Sue Donovan.

For the (girls) depth in the 200 free style (1) Ashley Walker, (2) Bailey Garrett. In the depth of 200 free relay (1) Sue Donovan, Erin McCullough , Ashley Walker, Jenna Stubbs, Romy Axelguard, Jessica Dainty, Abby Mc Cullough, Bailey Garrett.

In the depth 100 of the breaststroke (1) Ally Richardson, (2) Melissa Gomila.

Congrats to our swim team on such a close meet.
