You’ll shoot your eye out: A Christmas Story

Erin McMillan, Charger Staff

Peter Billingsly,Darren McGavin ,Scott Schwartz.Ring any bells? They should if you have ever seen the wonderful, classic movie “A Christmas Story”.

Ever since TNT began its 24-hour Christmas Day marathon,it has been tradition to gather around and watch for scenes about an evil mall Santa, a leg-shaped lamp, soap poisoning, Ovaltine advertisements, and to listen for lines like the instantly recognizable,"You'll shoot your eye out!"

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here's the plot: The movie is about the Christmas season for the Parkers, especially little Ralphie.

He faces many obstacles in the 1940's trying to get his hands on a Red Ryder Carbine Action, 200 Shot, Range Model Air Rifle.

His teacher and his parents both refuse to give it to him, proclaiming in every scene,"You'llshoot your eye out!"

Meanwhile everyday life continues for the rest of his family. his father wins a ''major award'' and showcases the prize, a lamp shaped like a leg in the front window.

His mother spends her time trying to get Ralphie's brother to eat like a little piggy and keep her husband away from the turkey.

Every scene is memorable making “A Christmas Story”  almost like the “Monty Python of Christmas movies “because almost everyone has seen it and almost everyone can quote at least a few of the great lines.
This Christmas when all the presents are unwrapped and the food is cooking, call your family together, flip the TV to TNT, and relax to Ralphie's holiday happenings in “A Christmas Story”
