To be able to watch a musical, claymation movie during Halloween and Christmas would be a dream come true, right? Thanks to the wonderful Tim Burton, it is a dream come true.

The Nightmare Before Christmas stars Chris Sarandon as the voice of Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, who is bored from doing the same thing year after year. He ventures out of his world for the first time, finding the doors to other holiday worlds. Attracted by the bright colors on the door to Christmas Town, he opens it and enters, finding a town that lives off of the joy and happiness of children, the complete opposite of what Halloween Town represented. He conceives a plan to take over Christmas that year, finally getting a break from the repetitive life he had grown accustomed to.

He has Lock, Shock and Barrel kidnap “Sandy Claws” so Jack would be able to take over Christmas. They give him to the boogieman, even though Jack told them not to. After Sally (voiced by Catherine O’Hara) realizes that Jack might be endangering himself and the inhabitants of the human world, she goes to rescue Sandy Claws from Mr. Oogie Boogie, only to be captured herself.

Jack realizes that being the Pumpkin King is, in fact, the job for him. He returns to Halloween Town to rescue Sally and Sandy from the clutches of Oogie Boogie, just in time for Santa to save Christmas.

This is a wonderful movie for Halloween and Christmas, freaks and normals, with a great soundtrack to go along with it. You’ll find yourself singing along with the catchy lyrics to “This is Halloween” and “Kidnap Mister Sandy Claws” after the first showing. Trust me, it never fails.
