The Clusmy Custard Horror Show Rating 9.5

I had no idea what to expect from a play named The Clumsy Custard Horror Show. Mr. Bruce Anderson’s opening remarks stated that the actors would be asking us to do certain things throughout the play. I didn’t like the sound of that.

It turned out that all we had to do was make sound effects. Sound weird? It was.

The story takes place in Zob Proper and Zob Improper, where the rulers, King Dumb and Dacron, are at odds with one another. Dacron ( Jonathan Uhles) wants to rule over the entire land. He also wants to marry King Dumb’s (Adam Vandergriff) daughter, Princess Prince (Sarah Norwood).

Dacron devises a plan to capture the princess using his ice cream clones, Poly and Ester. I don’t quite understand how they got that way, something about a lab experiment gone wrong.

Poly and Ester almost make out of the castle with the princess, but Swashbusk Valprisio ( Sam Spurlock) saves the day. Valpiriso is this play’s hero, (actually he’s a superhero with sliver shoes that allow him to defeat anyone). Poly and Ester retreat from the castle, and when King Dumb finds Vapiriso and his sidekick, Warfel, Dumb thinks that they are the ones who were trying to kidnap the princess.

They are sent to the dungeon, where they are both attacked by turkey spiders. They find a way to get out, but a force field blocks the way. Valpiriso takes out a book which tells him how get past a force field. He sticks his magic sword in a crack and asks the audience to sing so the sword vibrates and cracks the wall. They escape with the audience’s help in singing Old MacDonald Had a Force Field.

After they escape, Valpiriso wanders the streets of the city, only to find a scullery maid, which is the princess in disguise. They fall in love and kiss (tweet, tweet) and then they go their separate ways, promising to meet at the feast that night.

The princess is captured by Dacron, and she gets to know Head (Senka Hadzimuratovic). She helps the princess out by giving her the combination to the lock in the dungeon and a few helpful hints about the Clumsy Custard.

To make an even longer story short, the princess is rescued by Swashbuck Valprisio, and everyone ends up living happily ever after. Except maybe, Dacron, Poly and Ester, and Dacron’s spies. The End.

All in all, this play was hilarious. Every character had the right actor portraying him/her. I didn’t feel like anyone was miscast. Senka Hadzimuratovic is a strong actress, promising other strong roles to come. Sam Spurlock was very funny and he was also a strong actor. I never thought of Jonathan Uhles as an evil incarnate, but he can pull it off. Sarah Norwood was the perfect princess. Kudos to everyone else.
