Baseball gearing up for season ahead with much effort

Emilee Chaffin, Charger Staff

While most spring sport participants are still relaxing, baseball players at CHS are hard at work and have been since the beginning of the school year.

Two new coaches, Kevin Kennedy and Chuck Seymour, are heading up the team this year.

Coach Kennedy has many years of experience under his belt. He coached four years at Belmont University before going to coach at Dyersburg High School and West Central Mary.

Coach Seymour played baseball in high school with Kennedy as his coach. Soon after highschool, the two joined and now coach together. They both are excited and anxious for the new year to begin.

Coach Kennedy says, “If the team will step up and show strong leadership, we will do extremely well this season.”

Both coaches agree that the boys have a tough schedule but great potential.

“Off-season practice is also going well,” says Kennedy. The boys cannot start practice until Feb. 11, so the coaches are just offering open facilities for the time being. This is allowing the coaches to see how well the guys can do.

Coach Kennedy says, “The boys have put so much effort and strength into their practices, and they will hopefully get an equal amount out.”

Coach Kennedy really wanted to compliment the boys on their hard work and say that he appriciates all the time and effort they have put into practicing and training.

More baseball information including a roster and schedule will be in another issue closer to the season.
