VICA students go to state competition

Recently, several Cookeville High School students traveled to Nashville to
compete in the VICA Regional Competition held at the Tennessee Technological
Center.
Students from all Middle Tennessee schools competed in various vocational fields
of study.
CHS made an outstanding showing with eight students placing in events. Brandi
Raffield was a nail model and Tiffany Dodson came in first place in nail care.
Robert Null came in first in carpentry, Brandon Buckner won first place in steering
and suspension, and Lisa Gaw was awarded first in job skills demonstration speech.
Stephen Fields brought back a second place finish in auto service technology,
and Curtis Rockwell won second in brakes. Also, Laci Dyke came in third in cosmetology.
Cosmetology teacher, Mrs. Martha Dyer said of the students performance, Im
really excited about how they all did. Each one that participated placed and
thats really good.
Winners: Raffield, Null, Dyke ,Gaw, Dodson, Fields, and Buckner now get to
move on to the State competition to be held in Chattanooga from Apr. 22-24.
Dyer added, Im excited about seeing all of them compete at State
competition.
