Lady Cavs Swing Into Season
Emilee Chaffin, Charger Staff
Softball at CHS is well underway as the Lady Cavs are ending their third month
of games. Theconditioning and practicing which have been going on much longer
seem to have paid off well The team, along with Coaches Verdice Duff and Sam
Brooks, had positive remarks about the season. Sophomore Hannah Jaffe says,
I feel that this season is a growing one. We have a lot of work to do.
There are many new players on the team that have really helped us so far. Our
schedule this year has been a very busy one but it will help us improve greatly.
Girls on the team include freshmen Tara Polk, Kayla Allen, Joanna Slagle, and
Candice Nabors and sophomores Kristie Powell, Marie Swallows, Justina Goff,
Holly Tino, Mariah Skimmyhorn, Orianna Knowlton, Hannah Jaffe, Erin Currier,
and Erin Breeding.
The juniors heading up the team are Marie Lee and Megan Williams, along with
senior Keisha Darty.
With so many young girls and such a good, positive team, I see us going
very far in the Districts and growing stronger as a team in the process,
says sophomore Erin Breeding.
The girls are finishing up their regular season soon and will hold a tounament
here this weekend. They will be playing Crossville here on May 3 at 6:00. Be
sure and support our girls softball team as they challenge for a district championship.
