Kids meals persecuted

Meg Ivey, Charger Staff

Why can’t all restaurants be more like Cracker Barrel? No, I don’t want an entertaining -yet –somewhat-tacky general store as part of the restaurant or even the triangle game in which you can be labeled as “purty dumb” or “egnoramous” according to the number of tees you end up with.

Restaurants should simply model themselves after Cracker Barrel’s menu, especially noting the simple line “for kids of all ages.” No matter if you are 2, 19, 45 or 80, you can order anything off the kids’ menu that you want.

What an ingenious idea! To actually let a customer order a smaller portion if he so wishes. No extra food going to waste! No doggie bags left in the refrigerator to grow mold! No overeating just because the food is there! You simply get how much food you want…and no more.

Ordering from the kids’ menu is not only practical for those who hate wasting food, it also makes more sense economically. Entrees off the kids’ menus cost between two and four dollars, less than half of the usual seven to twelve dollars most regular entrees cost.

Although some of the choices are juvenile, like hot dogs or grilled cheese sandwiches, most offer scrumptious selections of chicken tenders and hamburgers. For those who require a little more food than the kids’ meal offers, simply order a side salad to go with your kids’ chicken and you have a cheap, satisfying meal.

Kids’ meals should be available to any customer at any age. Not only are they cheaper, they are also perfect for someone with a more dainty appetite.

Why can’t all restaurants be more like Cracker Barrel?
