Unsportsmanlike Conduct
As basketball season begins the CHS Administration and Coaches want to encourage students to attend and show support in a positive way. The values of millions of young men and women are directly and dramatically influenced by the values conveyed in high school sports. Schools have the responsibility to assure that the competitive experience of athletics play an integral part of the educational program. Competitive athletics brings out the best and worst in people. Unfortunately, too many individuals are confused about the meaning of fair play and sportsmanship and they have no concept of honorable competition. All individuals, regardless of their role in the activity, are expected to be aware of their influences on the behavior of others. Administrators and Athletic Directors will be observant of students that choose to ignore good sportsmanship. Disrespectful behavior toward officials, opposing team and/or fans will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Note: The TSSAA prohibits throwing of any item, including tissue paper, as an unsportsmanlike act. When this occurs our basketball teams are penalized. Students that do not comply with all school rules and regulations will receive appropriate discipline. Let’s show good sportsmanship at all times and Go Cavs!
