The Lady Cavs Soccer Team will be playing at home tonight against Tullahoma JV at 5:00 and Varsity at 7:00pm. Admission is free for students and $5 for adults. Please come out and support the Lady Cavs.

THERE WILL BE CHS T-SHIRTS SOLD ALL WEEK IN THE COMMONS AREA FOR $12.00. THIS IS FOR THE BLACK, TEAL, AND METALLIC SILVER DESIGN DISPLAYED IN THE MATH WING ON THE FIRST FLOOR. PLEASE BRING YOUR $12.00 CASH OR CHECK MADE OUT TO CHS THIS WEEK BEFORE ALL THE SIZES RUN OUT.

Thanks to your overwhelming support of the bookstore and the DECA club, our selection of Sparta shirts sold out during yesterday’s lunch. We have ordered more shirts, and we hope to have more available during lunch today. However, if they shirts do not arrive this morning, we will open the bookstore at 3:00 this afternoon for sales.

Key club returning members meeting will be Friday, Sept. 3 for the first half of the lunch hour in the Chorus Room 152. New members will be meeting on Tues., Sept. 7.

The PSAT/National Merit Qualifying Scholarship Test will be given at Cookeville High School On Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Taking the PSAT/NMQT enables students to practice for the SAT, to enter scholarship competitions, and to seek information from colleges. The cost is $20.00 and will take approximately three hours. Interested students may register for the test and pick up practice materials in the Counseling Center during the month of September. Space is limited to 60 students. Please register early! The PSAT is open for any high school student but Junior students must take the PSAT/National Merit Qualifying Scholarship Test to enter the scholarship programs conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. For more information, see Ms. Garrett in the counseling center on the 2nd floor.

THE FAMILY, CAREER, AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA (FCCLA) WILL BE COLLECTING COKE TABS FOR THE DURATION OF THE SCHOOL YEAR USING THE RONALD MCDONALD POP-UP HOUSES. IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE TO PLACE IN YOUR CLASSROOM, PLEASE EMAIL MS. BIRDWELL OR STOP BY ROOM 58. THESE HOUSES SHOULD BE VISIBLY PLACED IN YOUR ROOMS SO STUDENTS CAN DROP OFF THEIR TABS AT ANY LOCATION. THESE TABS ARE COLLECTED AND DONATED TO THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR FAMILES IN NEED.

The Young Democrats will have a meeting Tuesday, August 31st during the first half of lunch in Mr. Swann's room #30. Attendance is mandatory. Please bring your completed application to the meeting if you have not already submitted one.

Attn: All students interested in joining the CHS Hiking & Environmental Club, the first event is the StandStone Hike this weekend, Saturday Sept. 4. Officers will be elected. Departure time is 9:30 am from CHS football stadium. This hike is rated moderate. All Hike Club forms must be turned before you can go on this hike. See Mrs. Burgess, Rm 49 for more information and if you need transportation.

The Leo Club is accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. Today will be the last day to pick up an application for the service club. The Leo Club is the youth version of the Lion’s Club. Please stop by Mrs. Garrett’s office on the 2nd floor to pick up an application.

Homecoming elections are being held in the lecture hall during lunch. Come and vote!!!!!

Attention Seniors: Want to show your senior pride? Come see all the senior products that Josten’s has available for you. Everything from clothing, jewelry, and an extra-nice scrapbook. The display will be set up in the library for the next few days so don’t miss out!

Employees from Cummins/Fleetguard are at CHS on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:15 in room 88 (classroom beside the PLATO lab) to tutor students with all Math and Science subjects. NO sign-up required to attend. Tutoring will begin on August 26, 2010.

Appointments will be scheduled, Monday, August 23 outside room 227 during the lunch hour. If you miss the scheduling on Monday, please stop by room 227 between 11:30 and 12:00 on Tuesday or Wednesday to schedule an appointment. Any student who plans to graduate in 2011 who has not had his or her photo for the yearbook needs to make an appointment at this time.

Interactors need to turn in T-shirt money orders by Friday, August 27th to room 272. Also, on Saturday, August 28th the Interact Club will host a free car wash for donations at the Jackson St. Sonic from 11-3:30. All dues and car wash money is due on that day. If you can’t do the car wash, you are to make 2 posters with your name on the back and turn them in to Mrs. Jones by Friday at 3:00pm.

ATTENTION FCCLA MEMBERS: IF YOU PLAN ON RUNNING FOR AN OFFICER POSITION FOR THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR, YOU MUST MEET WITH MS. BIRDWELL IN ROOM 58 DURING FIRST HALF OF LUNCH ON WEDNESDAY August 18, 2010 TO DISCUSS REQUIREMENTS.

National Honor Society is accepting applications for the 2010-11 school year. Requirements for membership include a 3.5 unweighted GPA, good character, leadership, and service. Applications and a list of criteria for membership are available from Mrs. Johnson in Rm. 57.  All applications must be turned in no later than 3 pm on Friday, August 20.  Current members do not need to re-apply, but need to check in with Mrs. Johnson sometime this week.

Nominations for homecoming are being held today in English classes. If you are a non-traditional English student, meaning you ARE NOT in a traditional English course, you may make your nominations in room 247 during lunch.

Parents/ Students, we are experiencing technical difficulties with the Grade Book application within Power School.  Some grades may not be accurate until the problem has been fixed.  Our technology department is working diligently to resolve the issue and student grades will be accurate soon, sorry for the inconvenience.

The boys golf team posted a victory over Warren County, White County and Stone Memorial High on Monday at Riverwatch golf course. We won by 32 shots.

The policy addresses conduct taking place on school grounds, at any school-sponsored activity, on school-provided transportation, or at any official school bus stop immediately before boarding and immediately following bus unloading.

Alleged victims shall report these incidents immediately to a teacher, counselor or building administrator. Any allegations shall be fully investigated. The privacy and anonymity of all parties and witnesses to complaints will be respected.

Everyone: Each of us has the responsibility to help CHS eliminate bullying and intimidation from our buses, classrooms, locker areas, locker rooms, restrooms, stairwells, hallways and any other areas of campus. We must NOT tolerate this type of unacceptable behavior! We must report it!
